On January 30, 2003 OCP rented two Digital Projection “Lightning” 15-sx 12,000 lumen DLP video projectors and performed tests at the Academy of Music to evaluate the brightness and quality of the images in preparation for the full production of Il Trovatore the following season. OCP supernumeraries were staged by director Kay Walker Castaldo to accompany video projections, light cues and recorded music in a brief presentation. Video was played directly from the Final Cut Pro timeline on a Macintosh PowerBook G4. A very small audience of board members, staff and Opera supporters attended and discussed their impressions in a seminar following the presentation.
